Training sessions

Jason running a training day for the Chesapeake Bay Retriever Club

Jason can provide a range of training opportunities to meet your needs, whether you are new to gundog work, want to move on to the next level, or have a specific problem that you would like to solve. There is a variety of ground available, including beet, woodland and lakes, heather and bracken, white grass and reeds.

One-to-one lessons

One-to-one lessons last between an hour and an hour and a half. If you are new to gundog work, Jason will show you how to build sound foundations for future work. You may have been training your dog for a while, and need some help concentrating on problem areas. All lessons are adapted to suit your needs and are structured to ensure both dog and handler achieve success. If you would prefer to share a lesson, you can bring a friend and have a two-to-one lesson.

We have a specific training field for young dogs, where your dog will learn to run straight lines, jump obstacles and learn to hunt.

Group classes

Group classes can be arranged for clubs or groups of friends who would like to meet up in a friendly environment and train together. They can be half-day sessions, full days or a weekend. Classes can be of mixed ability, though it generally works best if the dogs are at a similar stage in their training.

Training weekends

Training weekends can be booked by clubs or groups of friends. These are progressive weekends, building throughout each day. If there are specific things you want to work on, and types of ground, please mention it too Jason. For example, a day spent concentrating on water retrieves is a popular request. Some groups have come from overseas and spent a whole week training with Jason.

Jason has held training weekends up and down the country, as well as abroad, and is happy to bring his training weekends to you if you can provide the land.
